Our commitment in action
The First Nations Strategy is our framework to ensure that our services, policies and practices are respectful, inclusive, and supportive of First Nations peoples.
The strategy builds on our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) 2021-2023 and aligns with the National Agreement on Closing the Gap, ensuring we meet our commitments to foster meaningful partnerships and drive equitable outcomes.
The current IP system does not adequately recognise or protect Indigenous Knowledge and is often inaccessible. We acknowledge these challenges and limitations and are committed to addressing them in partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Follow the story of the artist Mick Harding and the Malgarr (parrying shield) he crafted as part of this project, reflecting the deep history of innovation in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. The Malgarr is a powerful symbol of protection, identity, and resilience.
